"Murals at Sandhill"

As the sun rose at the Village at Sandhill, six local artists made the sidewalk their canvas.  Water based paints were used to create murals to delight the patrons of the shopping district.  The murals were visible for two weeks.


Khaldoune Bencheikh is an international mixed media artist. His work was shown locally and abroad: Morocco, France, Holland and the Biennale of Rome in 1999. Alex Coco is a local artist from Columbia, SC.  His work has been showcased at numerous galleries across Columbia, SC.  His work was recently featured in the Post Graffiti display at the Columbia Museum of Art.

Cedric Umoja is a local artist and one of the founding members of Izms of Art.  His work has been showcased in galleries and venues in Columbia, SC, Charlotte, NC, and Atlanta, GA.  His work was recently featured in the Post Graffiti display at the Columbia Museum of Art. www.izmsofart.com

Jordan Rose is an MFA student at the University of South Carolina.  Her work is currently on display in a private collection in Defiance, Ohio.  She has also shown her work and been part of a recent fundraising show in Anchorage, AK.

Michael Krajewski is a local artist whose work has been showcased in galleries in Columbia, SC, Charleston, SC and Greenville, SC.  He currently has a solo show at House of Frames Gallery on Devine Street, and was recently featured in the Post Graffiti display at the Columbia Museum of Art.

Lucas Sams is a BFA student at the University of South Carolina.
